Andy Radford
The Reverend Andy Radford had a long-standing connection with broadcasting, working on Radio Bristol’s “Genesis” religious strand and also for the Bristol Hospital Broadcasting Service, where he encountered a young Trevor Fry. From 1984, he co-presented the Sunday evening Gospel Scene on Radio West, initially with Trevor, and later with Sandra Sykes. After Radio West closed, Andy joined Severn Sound where he later became the presenter of a weeknight news programme at 6 p.m. In the late 80s he was awarded the title of Independent Radio Personality of the Year. Sadly most of today’s ILR stations would only laugh at the thought of employing somebody like Andy, who came over extremely well as a presenter.
Andy went on to a position at Lambeth Palace, and eventually became Bishop of Taunton, but sadly he died on May 21, 2006, at the age of 62.
