Ray Edwards
Ray (Raymondo) came to Radio West from Radio 210 in Reading. He presented the late night soul and community programme Late Night West from West’s first day until February 1983, when a programme reshuffle led him to lose his slot. A few months later, Ray reappeared, hosting a weeknight hour-long soul show, and shortly afterwards he took over the Friday evening show from Johnnie Walker. Ray made a final departure when the station reduced its hours in late 1983.
Thanks to Paul Easton for letting me know that Ray has worked in concert promotion since leaving radio.
“A right raver is our Ray, knows his stuff and is a cheerful member of [the] class. Work on community line and reggae especially good.” (Venue, November 1982)
