Dave Cash
Dave was West’s first programme controller and presented shows on Sunday morning. I also recall him doing a short stint on the weekday Breakfast Show in late 1982. Of course, Dave has had a long career in radio and in the UK was first heard on the “pirate” ship Radio London, where he was half of the most famous partnership in offshore radio, Kenny and Cash. In 1973 he joined Capital Radio and presented the midday show for seven years. After leaving West at the end of January 1983, he rejoined Capital and presented weekend breakfast. In the late 80s Dave could be heard on Invicta Radio in Kent, and later on Capital Gold. He later joined BBC Radio Kent, where he presents a weekend show.
“The broadcasting press are enjoying the recent public airing of dirty linen, concerning an apparent blood feud between Radio West’s number one, Chris Yates, and his deputy, Dave Cash. This climaxed in Dave Cash recently being given two weeks’ compassionate leave, during which time he was reported in the local press as saying he was perfectly alright, and continued to do his weekly show for Capital Radio in London.
“This week Dave Cash has been removed as programme controller (announced as we go to press) but he stays on as a DJ – for the moment at least.” (Venue, November 1982)
