DJ Bunny

Reggae was a big part of West’s original sound, reflecting part of local taste: the station had a large production studio, and used it to record the local reggae band Talisman in Spring 1982. In the original programme schedule, there wasn’t a separate slot for reggae, but the station had a presenter, Mikey Dread, who was constantly being promoted but never appeared (I think it was mentioned on air that there had been a problem with a work permit). By April 1982, reggae was part of Ray Edwards’ late show, with a slot presented by DJ Bunny from 11-midnight on Thursday. Later, reggae was a regular element of Andy Fox’s Saturday night show.
